The Missouri S&T Student Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers provides extremely important value to our members. We meet once every two weeks (alternating Wednesdays with Architectural Engineering Institute S&T) lasting around an hour with an industry leader talking about their professional job, representing their company, presenting various civil engineering projects, or providing different tips for being a professional engineer with provided pizza! Civil engineering students practice working together effectively, and we promote a spirit of congeniality. We accomplish this vision by offering one or two service project opportunities per semester as well as through competitions, industry exposure, leadership, professional development, networking, social events, and scholarships. We also organize the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) review sessions in BCH, with professor guidance and by selling FE review manuals. Chi Epsilon was organized to recognize the characteristics of the individual Civil Engineer deemed to be fundamental to the successful pursuit of an engineering career, and to aid in the development of those characteristics in Civil Engineering students.

Engineering, the application of scientific principles to the practical needs of society, is assuming a constantly increasing responsibility for the well-being of all people, and thus calling for competence of the highest order. This responsibility can be discharged only by a professional group whose members who possess a good basic technical ability, intelligence, moral integrity, and effective social poise in their relationship with the larger community of which they are part.

To contribute to the improvement of the profession, Chi Epsilon fosters the development and exercise of sound traits of character and technical ability among civil engineers, and its members by precept and example, toward an ever higher standard of professional service.

Chi Epsilon is the International Honor Society for the Civil Engineering profession. It was founded at the University of Illinois in the Spring of 1922 to recognize and honor Civil Engineering students and professionals, and now has 143 chapters at universities across the United States and beyond. Students and professionals are selected to become members based on recognition of their Scholarship, Character, Practicality, and Sociability, considered by Chi Epsilon to be the four primary traits of a successful engineer. Founded on the campus of Oklahoma State University on November 27, 1919, Kappa Kappa Psi is a guiding light with which band students can grow, learn, and develop themselves and their band programs. Kappa Kappa Psi is an organization of opportunity and quality, brimming with historic, well-developed leadership and membership programming that students use to become great leaders, better band members and better adapted young adults prepared for what lies ahead of them.
The educational value to the student of participation in a smaller group’s activities cannot be overemphasized. Experience in planning, organizing and carrying through projects to benefit the larger band organization are necessary if a well-rounded and responsible student leader is to be trained. The fraternal group, as embodied by our active chapters, provides this needed training group for the student by establishing both worthy goals and worthwhile guideposts for a meaningful college experience.

KMNR shall provide educational and informative radio programs as a public service for the students, faculty, and administration of the Missouri University of Science and Technology, and for the members of the surrounding communities.

Welcome to the S&T Astronomical Research Society (STARS). S&T Astronomical Research Society (STARS) aims to develop a greater interest in and aptitude in the area of astronomy within the community. Our organization is open to anyone who is interested in learning and sharing knowledge about astronomy and astrophysics!

We are also responsible for the campus observatory events. Built in 1973, the Missouri S&T Observatory is located at 1550 N. Bishop Ave. (Highway 63 North), adjacent to the university’s Stonehenge replica, north of McNutt Hall and west of St. Patrick’s Lane. Visitors’ Nights at the Observatory are free of charge and no reservations are required. Each observing session is open-ended. Children are welcome to attend but must be accompanied by an adult. All visitors must be able to ascend a short set of stairs to view the object through the telescope.
